TECHNOLOGY:
CMEVA :Like its name suggests, the compression moulded EVA (CMEVA) and the injection moulded EVA (IMEVA) use a mould. A bit like a waffle maker, it shapes the details and design of the midsole into EVA. Similar to a waffle iron, the manufacturer will grease the mould, which will make it easier to take the mould out and put the next one in. The compression moulded version, consists of compressing EVA into the mould and then applying pressure. And when the CMEVA is taken out of its mould it is exactly the same shape and size as the cast used to create it. In a way, the CMEVA method is like home cooking with a cookie cutter. The EVA is cut into a block, which unfortunately means the material around the edges is wasted. When it comes to design quality and attention to detail, CMEVA is the preferred method for manufacturers as it can produce stunning results.
